Evaluation Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute you media product and why?

I feel as though my product would be suitable for distribution with IPC Media because they have previously published music magazines such as NME and these magazines have been a success with the intended target audience (male aged 16-24).
NME music magazine has been a tremendous success and as a result now NME.COM is Europe's biggest and most viewed music website.
I feel that IPC Media have done a great job in distributing this music magazine and making it as big as it is now-a-days, through their advertising and passion to make the magazine as big as possible.
NME.COM has 1.3 million unique users generating over 13 million page impressions, nme.com is the U.K.'s premier music content website. I believe that my music magazine, 'ROCK ON', would work well in the capable hands of IPC Media distributing it as they have made such a great success of NME.
NME'S target audience is the same as mine for my music magazine, male aged 16-24.
Despite ROCK ON having the same target audience as NME I still believe that it will be a success as my music magazine will offer a possible alternative to readers of NME and readers of other music magazines.
If thoughtfully discussed with IPC Media I think that they would agree with my idea of them distributing two music magazines (NME and ROCK ON) aimed at the same target audience, in order to offer a potential 'other option', instead of the same music magazine.
Finally, I think that IPC Media will strongly benefit from distributing my music magazine because it will keep them up to date with the potential market, and keep them fresh with consumers, as they will be issuing something new.

Evaluation Question 2

Evaluation Question 1

Final Contents Page

This is my final contents page. Originally I was planning on having a white background however, when I completed it I decided not to as it looked too plain. When I finally added the black background it almost looked too dark so I combined small amounts of white around the main headings on the page. Also, I used small white strokes around the two photos to make them look like they are actual photos that have been stuck down onto the page itself.

Contents Page

This is my current progress on my contents page. Next week I will be able to finish it off with another image inserted on the right hand side (middle) and some more text. Also, I may edit some of the background colors as I'm not sure that the white background compliments the text and images.

Final Double Page Spread

This is my final double page spread. I decided on putting a black background behind my text on the left hand side as it looked too plain before with just black text on a white background. I have also increased the size of the red title (continuing colours and font throughout magazine) in the the top left hand corner to make it more visible and appealing. I had a lot of space at the top of my image on the right hand side (left intentionally when taking the photo), enabling me to put another heading above the image. "Liquid" is the name of the band. Some text features I used were drop letters, (found on the first word on the article) and a pull out quote from the text on the left and placed in the centre, bottom half of the image just like I have seen in magazines before hand that I have used for inspiration.

Content Of My Double Page Spread

This is a step of which I am presently at with my double page spread. There will be an image placed on the right page of this double page spread. I am going to be putting sub headings over the top of my image. Also, there will be 'pull out quotes' which will be in the centre of the left page and I will wrap the text around the quote. I will be doing this in order to break up some of the text, otherwise the text looks too long and boring for the reader. However, this is what my double page spread (interview) is looking like presently. I am using 'Q Magazine' for inspiration with the layout of the text and images on my double page spread.

Final Front Cover

This is going to be my final front cover. I feel as though it is a step in the right direction for me as I have now added more to it such as barcode, price, cover lines and more making my design look more professional and like an actual magazine front cover.

Front Cover So Far

This is my front cover so far, I am still planning on adding more to it. I will be able to continue working on it next week. I am hoping that I will be able to finish my front cover next week also, allowing me to move onto my contents page and/or double page spread.

Proposal For My Music Magazine

Proposal

Who are you aiming your magazine at?
I am aiming my magazine at young, male rock supporters aged between 15 and 25.

What musical genre will you be from?
The genre of my magazine is rock. My target audience will know this from the image and cover lines I will put on my front cover of my magazine.

What title have you decided on and why?
A possible name for my magazine is “Rock On”. I feel as though I will be able to use a clever design for this particular title, along with the fact that it an easy name to remember.

What fonts do you want to use?
Some of the fonts that I am thinking of using are either big and bold fonts that will stand out to the audience. However, on the other hand I am thinking of having light, faint and thin text.
What are your ideas for a tagline?
The next boy band. Is as possibility for me to use.

What kind of image do you expect to put on the front cover? (How are you going to get the images? Who is going to pose for you? Which cover are you going to recreate?)
On my front cover I am planning on having a group of young people (friends) posing for the camera pretending to be a rocking boy band group.

How much would your magazine sell for?
£3.99

What are your ideas for cover lines?
The cover lines that I am thinking of are going to be giving a brief insight into what my magazine is going to be about. An example of a cover line would be “Teenagers to Five Star Rockstars”.

What images do you expect to use on your contents page?
On my contents page the image I am thinking about is a medium close up of the band together either talking or possibly playing on their instruments.

What will your double page spread be about?
My double page spread will be a interview with the band asking them a variety of different questions such as when they were formed as a band. Who is the lead of the band? Who formed the band etc.

What are your initial ideas for images?
Some of my initial ideas for images are a picture of the band on the front of my cover posing for the camera just like a typical boy band would.
